1982 – 10    Employees

  • Southerntier Custom Fabricators is born with 10,000 sq. ft.

1985 – 23    Employees

  • Purchased Linda Plasma table for mile long conveyor fabrication job at Toshiba

1986 – 31   Employees

  • Purchased Phase I of Engle Coil Line and first Spiral Machine

1989 – 61   Employees

  • 4,000 Sq. Ft. addition

1993 – 41   Employees

  • Purchased Lectec Plasma Table

1994 – 100   Employees

  • 6,000 sq. Ft. Pole Barn addition

1996 – 63   Employees

  • Purchased Phase II of Engle Coil Line

1997 – 114   Employees

  • 4,000 Sq. Ft. addition to the West End of STCF for the new business: Stamped Fittings Inc.

1998 – 125   Employees

  •  Purchased residence at 206 Lenox Ave. for added parking for STCF and SFI employees

1999 – 150   Employees

  • Purchased 1.25 acres at Grand Central Ave.

2001 – 165   Employees

  • Purchased 4-acre site at Trinity Park for new facility

2002 – 125   Employees

  • June 14 – Shop Machinery and Equipment moved from 215 Lenox to College Ave.
  • July 26 – Office moved from 215 Lenox to College Ave.
  • July 29 – Southerntier Custom Fabricators is open for business at College Ave. with 74 employees.

2003 – 153   Employees

  • STCF Purchased Duct Liner Machine

2004 – 125   Employees

  • Purchased ESAB Water Cutter

2005 – 131   Employees

  • Purchased Coil Line and another Bending Roller

2006 – 186   Employees

  • Purchased several new machines including a Stitch Welder, Gore Cutter, Flange Machine, and Gore Locker.
  • STCF renovated their 2nd level to increase office space

2007 – 198   Employees

  • STCF began its journey to becoming “Lean” with Carol Miller of AM & T. (See article)
  • Purchased 2 additional Roll Formers and Gore-Locker.
  •  Upgraded our computer systems to include flat screen monitors
  • Upgraded our Feeder Circuit & added a Tube-Forming Machine

2008 – 154   Employees

  • Purchased another Flange Machine
  • Purchased new management software:
  • Explorer contract manager, “Construction Accounting Solution”

2009 – 208   Employees

  • New “Explorer” Management Software is up and running!

2010 – 197   Employees

  • May 2010 – Purchased property located at 105 -113 Westside Avenue
  • First Annual Local Family Holiday Support providing food & gift certificates to 25 families

2011 – 174   Employees

  • Purchased Helix Gorelocker and Metalab Inc. CAD Software
  • Completed next phase of 5S Lean Manufacturing

2012 – 170   Employees

  • Complete Installation of Paint Booth at former Hardinge Bldg.
